Croatian and Slovenian researchers gain innovation support with €49 million in EIF-led financing

SID Banka cooperates with the European Investment Fund (EIF) in the CEETT (Central Eastern European Technology Transfer) initiative, which promotes the transfer of technologies and financing of the early stages of development in Slovenia. This strengthens the connections between research institutes, universities and the market, thereby contributing to increasing the competitiveness of the Slovenian economy. With this, SID Banka is following its mission to help Slovenia become a strong innovator in the EU again and to promote long-term sustainability and green development.

The Vesna Deep Tech Venture Fund, to which the EIF, SID Bank and HBOR is allocating 40 million euros (EIF €20 million, HBOR €10 million and SID banka €10 million), is the first fund of its kind in Slovenia and Croatia. The EIF commitment stems from two separate investment programs established with the Croatian Development Bank HBOR and the Slovenian SID Bank. The remaining 9 million euros were provided by private investors at the first closing of the fund. 49 million euros will be invested in the commercialization of research projects, the protection of intellectual property and the transfer of technologies at universities and research institutions. The Vesna Fund will invest in up to 80 projects, with a focus on the "proof of concept" phase, which will enable the transformation of research into businesses and increase the use of research in Slovenia and Croatia.
